sold solely at in-person events for the moment
They are the co-founder of NO EVIL EYE CINEMA, an exhibition and education nomadic microcinema, and its project FILM FUTURA: a virtual alternative film school. They are also the founder of NSISIM : a slow burn study of ecological embodiment.
Film
Ingrid is an award-winning filmmaker with notable collaborations and support from Field of Vision, Netflix, Trans Film Center, Independence Media Fund with films exhibiting at DOCNYC, Brooklyn Academy of Music, AFI Docs, Sheffield Doc Fest, Anthology Film Archives, Academy of Natural Sciences, Camden International Film Festival, and Unorthodocs Film Festival to name a few. They co-directed the short documentary They Won’t Call It Murder (2021) following the lives of five women impacted by police violence in Columbus, Ohio.
Currently, Ingrid is developing a hybrid short exploring the ecologies and histories of rivers and silk-weavers in Philadelphia through a Black speculative lens. The project was short-listed at Creative Capital (2025) and received support from Independence Media Foundation, WaterShed Residency at Mural Arts.
Ingrid Raphaël co-founded NO EVIL EYE CINEMA in 2019 with collaborator Ruun Nuur. The microcinema toured the shorts program Sequence 01 (2019) at the Wexner Center for the Arts, Spectacle Theater, and New Orleans Film Festival - redefining distribution and exhibition models for independent filmmakers. In 2021, NEEC launched FILM FUTURA: a virtual alternative film school for international cohorts curious about decolonial gazes, non-western canons and teachings traditionally kept out of film schools; with over 400+ students internationally.
Rooted in a filmic ethics of trust-building and vulnerability, their experimental shorts An Ode to Cbus, Ohio (2019), MOVINGBODY (2019), GRIEF (2020,) and Soft in the Shell (2024) offer a meditative, introspective, and observational glimpse into transformation, migratory landscapes, and self-reckoning. Using found footage, Super8 footage, iPhones, and poetic narration, Ingrid plays with collage as a form of expressing non-linear narratives.
Collective Visions
In 2025, Ingrid Raphaël launched NSISIM Studio: a study of ecological embodiment. The studio practice is a curatorial effort toward teachings, design, exhibitions, research, production and writings under the umbrella of ecology and indigenous technologies. The first curatorial exhibit At Your Shores was an immersive installation during the reception of the Confluence Film Festival at the Academty of Natural Sciences with films surrounding topics of the environment and ecology.
In 2024, Ingrid was invited by cinéSPEAK to curate a film screening with the Free Library of Philadelphia during their Black August Series programming. Raphaël selected films by Black women Madeline Simpson and Fronza Woods exploring the interiority of Black service workers -- with the outcome of the library acquiring those films as part of their collections.
From 2019-2023, Ingrid co-curated programming including film screenings, educational workshops and symposiums on behalf of NO EVIL EYE CINEMA which featured a slate of stellar and respected independent film practitioners whose practice and study embrace non-traditional forms of relating to distribution, exhibition, criticism, and production. NO EVIL EYE CINEMA is slated to offer more programming in 2026 and beyond.
Exhibition
Pitch Blue (2023) is their debut solo exhibition as a result of the 8-month studio residency with iLab at University of the Arts, Philadelphia. The exhibit was a multi-textural synthesis of the artists' Afro-European familial archive, transnationalist histories, and ephemeral landscapes that bleeds into Raphaël’s understanding of themselves as a African, as an Alien, and as an Artist.
Since then, Ingrid has exhibited textile, installations, and films at group shows in Philadelphia at Imperfect Gallery (2024), Da Vinci Art Alliance (2023), Cherry Street Pier (2025)
They are currently slated for a group exhibit in March-April 2026 with Mural Arts’ WaterShed residency.
Ingrid has co-organized several group exhibits Teens Curate the Collection at the Bronx Museum of the Arts (2020), end-of-year youth group exhibits at Cherry Street Pier (2021), and video programs & the Understories group show with the Termite TV Collective at Cherry Street Pier (2025). They have produced exhibits spanning across museums, public galleries, and public spaces reflecting their commitment to exhibition for large audiences by intergenerational, art-forward makers.
Teaching & Curriculum Design
Over the span of 8 years, Ingrid has enjoyed developing curriculums with and for Bronx Museum of the Arts, Eyebeam, Mono No Aware, Film Futura, Harlem School of the Arts, Education Video Center, PhillyCAM TV; delivering 15-week syllabi on Experimental Video at University of the Arts and Video Production at Arcadia University; and delivering workshops and presentations on non-linear time with Black Quantum Futurism, archival research methods with People’s Media Record, youth care-pod mapping with Pwrplnt, and cinematography, collaborative-filmmaking, and found footage editing at PhillyCAM TV.
They continue to offer courses on weaving, time, nature, and the internet through their practice at NSISIM Studio.
Performance & Dance
Ingrid has performed with Quaternion (2021) by Catilin Cherry at Pace Gallery, exhibited video performances at the Collegium for African Diaspora Dance Conference (2022) and as part of their solo exhibit Pitch Blue (2023.)
They are currently developing choreography performance works weaving African cosmologies, landscape, architecture, and ecology.
Currently:Producing and in-production for their film SILK on a poetic and speculative mediation on flooding history, water memory, and weaving technologies in Philadelphia. As well as making new short videos available for curatorial placements and exhibits.
On the Horizon: Email for future collaborations: teaching, speaking engagements, film collaboration, program design, exhibition opportunity.
